You love it high alpine and challenging? Then the Ötscher ascent over the Rauhen Kamm is just right for you! The route can be climbed without any protection, but you should be free from giddiness and sure-footed. A particularly important component of the hike: the weather! Be sure to check the weather forecast in advance!
The route: From the parking lot in Weitental you hike to the Ötscherwiese and further to the Ranecksattel. For this you must already calculate an hour. After a short break for a drink you go up to the Bärenlacken saddle. From there, a narrow path leads south, which is first flat and then steep in many hairpin bends to the northeast ridge.
On the next stage, it goes through mountain pine alleys to the entrance to the Rauhen Kamm at 1,533 meters. Here the ascent runs on narrow bands and rugged wall steps to the fore summit of the Ötscher.
Once you have climbed the pre-summit, the hike is almost done. You can comfortably walk across the summit plateau to the Ötscher summit!
